Have you ever partied on a private island? I have! Chris and Claire planned a beautiful wedding on Shelter Island. Shelter Island is a small island located between the two forks for Long Island. It is filled with beach cottages and old fashioned colonial homes. Chris and Claire have spent many weekends there making memories together.
Chris and Claire had the perfect day for their early fall wedding. If any one deserved perfect weather, it was them! When we visited Shelter Island in late April for their engagement session, we were endured 40 degree weather and 30 mile per hour winds. It was a particularly cold weekend for spring, and Claire was out on the docks in a spaghetti strap dress! I have a lot of respect for you Claire, I couldn’t have done it. There is even a picture I included in their engagement session gallery, of the three of us squatting behind a boulder waiting for the wind to stop. Chris said it was his favorite image of the entire session. Ha.
September was much kinder to us. We could not have asked for a more perfect wedding day. Claire had so many beautiful details planned for the day. From hanging out with her girls in their custom pajamas, to saying I Do in an intimate church, to arriving to her reception on a boat and waving goodbye to all of her guests while kissing through golden sparklers.
The one thing I learned from all of Chris and Claire’s family and friends is, they do not let you down when it comes to a party. There was not one open spot on that dance floor. I even got a little nervous when the band played the infamous wedding song, SHOUT. I thought the floor might cave in. All kidding aside, Chris and Claire’s reception was filled with joy and dancing. Even grandma was dancing the night away. Their party was alive from start to finish.
Chris and Claire, I had such an exciting time with the two of you. Thank you for letting me be a part of your wedding day and for treating me like one of your friends. I hope you enjoy your honeymoon and congratulations on being newlyweds!
